HS most commonly occurs in women and can start as early as puberty. Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic skin condition affecting the hair follicle and it occurs commonly in the groin, genitals, armpits, around the anus, and around the underside of the buttocks and breasts. Soft or hard, usually painful masses in the groin that may rupture producing pus, leaving an open sore.
